TCFA New York Chapter Seminar: The Future of Commodity Market & China’s Economic Growth Print

Dear TCFA Members and Friends:

TCFA New York Chapter is pleased to announce our next seminar titled "The Future of Commodity Market & China’s Economic Growth.”

The commodity market has been one of the worst performing sectors so far in 2013, crippled by slackening Chinese demand, uncertain growth prospects in the U.S. and Europe, adequate inventory of raw materials, and a strengthening U.S. dollar. Are we entering a bear market for commodities, as some analysts claimed; or is it just a temporary hiccup?

As the largest consumer of many commodities, what’s China’s role in the future of the global commodity market? How can China gain more control over natural resources, to secure a sustainable long-term growth of its economy?

We are honored to have Mr. Marc Iyeki, Managing Director of NYSE EURONEXT, Mr. Li Shanquan, Senior Portfolio Manager at Oppenheimer, and Dr. Sheldon Pang, Vice Chairman of Freepoint Commodities LLC, to share their thoughts and wisdom on these issues.

The details of this seminar are as follows:

Date: Thursday, May 23rd, 2013

Registration: 6:00pm – 6:30pm

Seminar: 6:30pm – 8:00pm

Venue: Paul Calello Auditorium, Credit Suisse, 11 Madison Ave, New York

Dress Code: Business Casual

TCFA CA Chapter Seminar: China, on the brink of an unexpected change Print

Dear group members and friends:

We are very glad to announce a speaker and networking event hosted by the Chinese Finance Association California Chapter on May 16th Thursday at the downtown San Francisco.

The theme of the speaker event is ‘China, on the brink of an [unexpected] change’. We have invited speakers from China and US local to cover topics of the New Trend in  (1) China PE/VC business (2) China-US Cross-Border M&A and Multi-Purpose Investment Opportunities.  To register, please click here.

Both China and U.S have accumulated significant liquidity as they have held themselves from deep downturn, a correction to the excessive capacity build-up in many aspects during 98-08 period thanks to IT Revolution and Globalization, by deploying aggressive expansionary monetary and fiscal policies. That ample supply in liquidity is a double-edged sword:  it could provide fuel to revolutionize the approach of cooperation cross the Pacific and in the same time it could also make both suffer even further due to an amplified imbalance internally. Right now, we are on the brink of that potential change pointing to either direction.

And indeed there are clear signals and opportunities arising for overseas professionals who hold skill, experience, sophistication and, most important, ethical standard to assist that advance toward the constructive side.  It is time for us to learn, understand and, most important, act.

The event is developed by the Chinese Finance Association with the goal of sharing newly-developed observations and understanding in China-related opportunities among members, hoping to create a proactive engaging atmosphere within this group of resourceful talents across the big ocean.

In addition to the speech, we would briefly update local members’ recent development in China which, we consider, is also an important way to demonstrate the progressive changes in China.

We welcome you to attend our event!
