David Zhang - President Candidate

Bio:
DAVID ZHANG Managing Director, Head of Securitized Products Research, MSCI
David Zhang is a Managing Director and Head of Securitized Products Research at MSCI. His team is responsible for developing models and analytics to support investment analysis, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Before joining MSCI, Dr Zhang was Managing Director and head of Securitized Products modeling at Credit Suisse for more than a decade. At Credit Suisse he was responsible for supporting risk, regulatory and client analytics as well as sales/trading quantitative strategies. Dr Zhang’s group developed one of the most widely used MBS models by fixed income institutional investors. Their work was consistently awarded top ranking by various industry and client surveys, including Institutional Investor All-America Research Team ranking in Agency prepayment. They also won the award for best paper by the American Real Estate Society for research on effectiveness of government mortgage programs
The regulatory projects Dr Zhang lead at Credit Suisse included developing models for CCAR and PPNR (Pre-Provision Net revenue), Dodd-Frank IHC (Intermediate Holding Company) and related VaR, RWA and RBPL modeling, and FRTB (Fundamental Review of Trading Book).
David serves on the boards of TCFA (The Chinese Finance Association), GCREC (Global Chinese Real Estate Congress), and NY PRMIA (Professional Risk Management International Association). He co-chairs the China Market Committee of SFIG (Structured Finance Industry Group). Dr Zhang has a Ph.D. from Princeton University.
Statement:
I would be honored to serve as the next president of TCFA, a venerable organization founded 25 years ago serving the Chinese finance professions, as well as facilitating exchanges between the United States and China. During the last ten years when I was helping the TCFA informally and since I joined the TCFA board last year, I am always impressed and moved by the TCFA volunteers and officers who devoted to the organization and its mission selflessly, without pay, and with enthusiasm.
I have been working in the finance industry for over 20 years, currently as managing Director of MSCI. I have always believed in the benefits of similar organizations and importance of volunteers and officers to sustaining of such organizations. I have served on boards of NYC PRMIA (Professional Risk Management International Association), GCREC (Global Chinese Real Estate Congress), as well as Credit Suisse Asian Professional Network.
If elected, I will continue the work of current and past presidents, strive to serve our membership and carry on our mission. Specifically relevant to current financial industry and international environment, I will work with the volunteers and officers to provide more opportunities and venues to help our membership navigate the new financial world, enhance communication across the industry for our membership at all career stages, and enhance the communications between the United States and China.

1. Maggie Jiang

Bio:
Maggie Jiang is currently SVP of Corporate Banking with Bank of China New York Branch, her responsibilities include lending to corporations in cross border M&A, Project Finance, and Structured Finance throughout U.S., Canada, Latin America and South America.
Ms. Jiang was formerly senior Director at Credit Suisse, an expert in structured finance and primary debt capital market, where she helped facilitating public, private, or syndicated transactions for various types of institutional investors. She covered large frequent issuers, opportunistic hedge funds, financial intermediaries, start-ups, and one-off special projects related to M&A. Her expertise spreads through a wide range of spectrum: origination, structuring, risk assessment, funding, advisory, and internal credit approval, for billions of assets. Prior to Credit Suisse, Ms. Jiang held various positions at Barclays Capital, CitiGroup. She was China Market Committee Co-Chair for the Structured Finance Industry Group and was part of the leadership team that published the securitization whitepaper for the China market. She also spoke at several industry conferences.
Ms. Jiang currently is a TCFA Board Director.She has been a long-time core member, and has made valuable contributions in her role as executive team member, New York Chapter Chair, former TCFA President, former President-Elect, and board member for several terms.
Ms. Jiang has worked tirelessly to organize many key events that differentiate TCFA from other organizations, and promote the TCFA brand and member loyalty. She continuously brings in and maintains several large institutional relationships for strategic alliance, e.g., she led Lunar New Year Celebration with Bloomberg Pan Asian Community three years in a row, two China Bond Market Roundtable with S&P, and three career panels at Rutgers University, etc.. Ms. Jiang is also a strong supporter of young students and women in the work place.
Ms. Jiang also sits in the Audit Committee and serves on the board of The Family Center, a non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, NYC, which helps less privileged new Yorkers at times of family difficulties and stresses, facilitating aids treatment, mental health clinic, and pro bono housing services, etc.
My name is Maggie Jiang. Currently I’m a SVP with Bank of China New York. My responsibilities include Cross border M&A, Project Finance, and Structured Finance through our U.S., Canada, Latin America and South America. Previously, I was a senior Director with Credit Suisse, and before that Barclays Capital and Citigroup. My expertise includes underwriting / origination / structuring / risk evaluation / advisory of structured finance, covering the primary debt capital market for structured finance. Many thanks for your trust and support in the past years.
For me, TCFA’s mission statements are: to serve our members, promote the economic and finance exchange between US and China, and the world, host current events on hot topics, provide a great platform for mentorship / career advice / networking, and interact with delegations from China. With great support from the TCFA core team and members, I was able to expand TCFA sponsors and partners in this part year, improve the TCFA brand name, and build up a deeper bench for future TCFA leadership, so that can do more for our Chinese financial professional community.I have encouraged my former colleagues to volunteer for TCFA, and several of them are now part of TCFA core members and management team.
I would like to share with you all our secret sauce: teamwork, attracting new talents, and up-keeping of good traditions. Consistency is the best foot forward for evolution, which is what TCFA values. I hope to continue servicing the TCFA community, and become part of the constant force that push TCFA further along from behind. I would appreciate your vote of confidence.

2. Bo Liu

Bio:
Dr. Liu is a Director in Model Risk Management group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and has more than 11 years working experience as a desk/risk quant from major financial institutions. Prior to joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, he worked at J. P. Morgan and UBS as a risk quant to cover counterparty and credit risk modeling. He also worked as a desk quant to support structured credit trading desk at Citigroup and Fitch Ratings. He was also an adjunct professor at Rutgers Business School. Dr. Liu received his Ph.D. in Finance and MBA from Rutgers Business School, M.S. in Finance from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research has been published in several prominent academic journals.
Dr. Liu was TCFA president in 2018. Since joined TCFA in 2006, he has been involved in core management team and held various positions including Treasurer (2008-2009), Board Director (2009-2011, 2015-2017), Chief Operating Officer (2011-2013) and Chief Financial Officer (2013-2018).
Statement:
Since its establishment, TCFA has served as an important communication center to facilitate and promote financial and career knowledge sharing. It also serves as a bridge connecting the U.S. and China among financial professionals and students. With the rising of globalization, the development of Chinese financial market can’t be completed without support and contribution from outside markets. I firmly believe more communication is better to serve both sides. TCFA has the avenue to promote this change and I would like to continue contributing to the strategic direction and growth of this fantastic association.
I joined TCFA in 2006 and I've benefited a lot, personally and professionally, from this wonderful community that is built and managed by so many passionate and excellent Chinese finance professionals. Over the last several years, as one of the core management team members, I've been actively involved in many TCFA activities, including building and expanding our sponsor relationship, organizing our flagship annual conferences, participating TCFA mentoring program. Ever since I joined the TCFA board, I had the privilege to work with a team of talented and dedicated friends, and I am more inspired by the fellow members of the leadership team, of their dedication, professionalism, and friendship. I currently serve as the Chief Financial Officer of TCFA and held various positions within TCFA in the past including Treasurer (2008-2009), Board Director (2009-2011, 2015-2017), Chief Operating Officer (2011-2013), Chief Financial Officer (2013-present) and President (2018). I also served in TCFA accounting committee and the Best Paper Award review committee.
It would be a great honor to run for the board director of TCFA, and continue serving our members and community in the coming years. If I'm lucky enough to gain the trust of our members, I pledge to give my best efforts, and leverage on my experience and connections, with the help of all of our members, to lead TCFA to continue its successful path, to serve our members better, and to further promote the connections among Chinese finance professionals. I promise I will have more open dialogues with members and listen to your concerns and needs so that TCFA can address them and promote a constructive development of our community.
3. Yishu Richard Wang

Bio:
Currently I am a board of director for TCFA. I serve as a director at DYNC Atlantic Property and Investment, an assets management and private equity firm based in Washington DC. Before that, I served as a risk manager at Investment & Capital Market division of Freddie Mac. I also worked as a consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and managed fixed income securities securitization and financial derivatives evaluation for various clients in banking and capital market. I hold a master’s degree of business administration in Finance from R.H Smith School of Business at University of Maryland, College Park.
Statement:
In 2018, while helping DC chapter to keep growing, I successfully invited Mr. Craig B. Allen, the president of US-China Business Council as the keynote speaker for morning session of 24thAnnual Conference. Mr. Allen gave a very insightful talk about trade relationship between the U.S. and China at the most challenging time of the two countries in the past 30 years. I also invited China Central Television (CCTV) to cover 24thAnnual Conference. This is the first time in history of TCFA that CCTV covered the annual conference of TCFA.
In 2019, Other than inviting CCTV back, I have invited Shanghai Media Group to cover the 25thAnnual Conference. I also invited a high profile speaker, Mr. Jingdong Hua, the Vice President and Treasurer of the World Bank to be keynote speaker at the afternoon session.
During my tenure, I have invited many high profile speakers from financial industry/regulator to speak during TCFA DC events. The speakers include:
In addition, my team sets up meetings for visiting groups from China, such as Great Wall Assets Management CO., LTD to meet with senior management at Fannie Mae, State Administration of Foreign Exchange representatives to meet high level officers at U.S Treasury and OCC, and other high level officials from Chinese Securities Regulatory Commission, CITIC Securities, Fosun International Limited to meet with experts from the financial industry in DC.
The TCFA DC also plans annual Chinese New Year banquet and annual Summer Golf Tournament. These events attracted a lot of interests from professionals in the financial industry as well as people from other industries.
I personally hosted several training/seminar to talk about U.S capital market for China Financial Leasing CO.,LTD at Financial district of Beijing; Bank of China, Jiang Su Province in Nanjing; China Great Wall Assets Management CO., LTD in Washington DC. I developed a strong tie with the Qingdao’s Financial District in Shandong Province.
I also appeared on a live Internet broadcast as a key speaker to talk about “Federal Fund Rate, Increase or not” in June of 2017. This program is produced and distributed by China Central Television (CCTV). More than 500,000people watched the show through the Internet across China and the TCFA brand name was promoted in the show.
Going forward, I plan to continue promoting TCFA to financial firms and professionals in China while enhancing TCFA’s impact in the U.S. through various events.
4. Chenyang Wei

Bio:
Jason Wei is Associate Dean of Tsinghua Institute of FinTech Research at People’s Bank of China School of Finance (PBCSF) of Tsinghua University, spearheading PBCSF’s development of its North America Center in New York to expand the schools’ executive education and research outreach. He is also Senior Advisor and former Senior MD at the New York office of Zenity Holdings, a global industrial investment corporation headquartered in China with total AUM of more than $60bn.
Prior to Zenity, he was Head of Credit Research at American International Group (AIG), reporting to AIG’s Chief Credit Officer with research covering total AUM of $300bn. Before AIG, he was Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and earlier Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He is also a Research Fellow at Wharton Financial Institutions Center.
He is currently Chairman of Board of The Chinese Finance Association (TCFA), the largest global association of Chinese finance professionals worldwide. He is former President of TCFA from 2014 to 2015 and is founding Chair of TCFA Best Paper Symposium. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Stern School of Business at New York University, a M.S. in Economics from University of Texas at Austin, and a B.A. (Finance) from Tsinghua SEM.

With a great pleasure, I am running for the Board of The Chinese Finance Association.
Having been an active TCFA member since 2001, I’ve played multiple roles in TCFA, including the founding Chair of the TCFA Best Paper program (2006 – 2009) , President of TCFA (2013-2014) and Chairman of TCFA Board of Directors (2016-present). Through these roles and for 18 years, I have always been proud to be part of TCFA’s strong growth and ever increasing global reach to support our members. I’ve also been increasingly grateful for the support our TCFA fellow members have provided me to serve the association.
In an unprecedented era of the Sino-US relationship amid intensifying frictions on multiple fronts, TCFA faces a great opportunity (and perhaps significant challenges as well) to play a more proactive and conductive role in bridging two of the largest economies/markets in the world. Likewise, many of our TCFA fellow members are more than ever before in need of a global network to support their navigation in professional development. These two goals have been TCFA’s key missions from day one 25 years ago.
With these missions in mind, I am seeking your support for my continued commitment to the TCFA board and the association. Have been a TCFA veteran and having led the over-sea development of multiple leading institutions in China, I am excited about the opportunity to continue leveraging my experience and serving the TCFA global community.
5. Christine Zhao

Christine Y Zhao, Chief Financial Officer for Whittle School and Studios, a global premium private education enterprise. Venture Partner of Yuan Ming Capital, a x-border VCPE fund. Previously she was the Group Chief Financial Officer for Best Inc., a pre-IPO unicorn company in China with valuation over $3bn (now NYSE listed) and major investors including Alibaba, Goldman, Walden, IDG, Softbank, IFC, China Everbrite and Citics PE. Prior to this, she was a Managing Director in Bank of America Merrill Lynch and an Executive Director in JPMorgan, where she held senior positions in HQ and global corporate and investment banking units, including as regional CFO/COO. She also worked at American Express in various capacities including as business unit CFO and in strategy and corporate venture investing, as well as at Goldman Sachs in investment banking. She has worked in New York, London, Singapore, Hong Kong and China, and has managed teams across four continents.
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Christine holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.S. in Economics with distinction from Fudan University in Shanghai, China. She is an independent Board member of Nasdaq listed company BeyondSpring Inc.(Nasdaq: BYSI), as well as a Board member of the Chinese Finance Association (TCFA, a non-profit organization with over 6,000 members worldwide), and a Board member of the Asian Pacific American Advocates (OCA) Westchester & Hudson Valley chapter. Christine is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese.

Statement:
I have been TCFA Board member for the last few years and am glad to have been able to continue to help the organization on various events. I have been panelist or moderator for several career management series, including resume workshop, interview workshop, women’s career panel, and mentoring dinners. I invited senior speakers or coordinate venue logistics for TCFA events, including TCFA-Wharton EMBA reception, TCFA-SAIF EMBA reception and the annual conferences, e.g. I invited keynotes for the last few years Robert Hormats, Robert Johnson and Sheila Bair, and organized panels such as healthcare and M&A. I also gave speech/classes on financial subjects to EMBA delegates from China who was hosted by TCFA. I hope to continue to provide my strong support to the TCFA organization and work to bring the organization events to the next level to benefit the members
6. Yalin Zhu

Bio:
Yalin is Vice President at US Tiger Securities, the subsidiary of Up Fintech Holding (Nasdaq: TIGR). She is responsible for the development of institutional sales business. Prior to this role, Yalin was director of US Business at China Bridge Capital International, based in New York City. China Bridge Capital is a Private Equity fund management company. Yalin is responsible for the company’s business development in the US. She oversees the due diligence process of cross-border transactions, while monitoring of portfolio companies and sourcing deals.
Prior to China Bridge Capital, Yalin was senior associate at China Renaissance Securities New York office. She was responsible for relationships development with US institutions. In addition, she has helped Chinese private and public companies improve their business and operations by advising on capital structure, and introducing senior management to financing and funding sources, and business strategy. Prior to China Renaissance, Yalin was an Equity Research Sales at CITIC Securities in New York.
Yalin has been a Director on the TCFA board sine 2013. Yalin holds a Master Degree in International Finance and Economic Policy from Columbia University; and a Master Degree from ISA Lille, a top ranked Grande Ecole engineering school in France. She also holds a Bachelor Degree in Biotechnology from Tongji University.

Dear everyone, it’s my great honor to stand at the stage again and run for the election of director on the board of TCFA. I have been on the board since 2013, six years until today. I have been contributing to TCFA from in various ways and would like to continue my work and make our association a better platform.
Currently, I’m working at US Tiger Securities, a fintech company, who is providing outstanding and unique online trading and investment experience to Chinese users. The company completed the IPO to listed on Nasdaq in March this year. And at US Tiger Securities, I’m responsible for the development of institutional business. Prior to this role, I worked at a Private equity fund – China Bridge Capital - dedicated in investing in cutting edge technologies. Before that, I worked at CITIC securities, China Renaissance Securities, Sales and Trading desk.
I joined TCFA in 2011 when I was still at Columbia University pursuing a master degree in international finance policy. In the past 8 years, as the director of the board of TCFA, as a member, and as a volunteer, I assisted and led different efforts. I have been on different roles including speaker invitation and hosting and moderating a panel, brochure’s designed and coordination, VIP team registration, job fair organization.
TCFA is a great platform where Chinese and US financial institutions, companies and professionals get connected with each other and matching their demand and supply. My working experiences at various Chinese financial firms and at their New York office naturally make me in the position to facility this exchange and promote the cooperation cross-border, and cross the language and geographic barriers. Going forward, empowered by technology, I would help the association to upgrade website and wechate official account to provide better user experiences to our members.
As one of the young generation of the Chinese professionals that have benefited practically from TCFA’s undertakings, I believe strongly in TCFA’s value, and would like to use my knowledge, experience and passion to help further this goal. If I had the honor to serve on the TCFA’s board again, I will fully commit myself to the mission of TCFA in terms of making it a better venue for Chinese professionals and students to communicate. As a practitioner in finance at US Tiger Securities, I will utilize all the resources possible to facilitate TCFA in fulfilling its goal of linking a bridge between the U.S. and China in the financial industry.
