About TCFA CA Chapter
The Chinese Finance Association (TCFA) Bay Area Chapter was founded in 1994. Aiming to promote professional development, career development, education, and foster ideas and business opportunities among members of the organization, TCFA Bay Area chapter have attracted more than 1000 members with a variety background in financial industry. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, TCFA Bay Area has formed close relationships with other Technology and Entrepreneur Organizations, and attracts may VC, PE and Fintech professionals in the member community.
Leadership
Yuying Gao – Chair
Dr Yuying Gao is a portfolio manager of Nipun Capital, a quantitative equity hedge fund focusing on Asia and Emerging Markets. In Nipun, Dr Gao manages its emerging market portfolio and China related strategies. Prior to Nipun, she was a senior researcher in BlackRock for 8 years, including her years in Barclays Global Investors which merged with BlackRock in 2010. In BlackRock, she was responsible of developing quantitative strategies in credits and equities for a systematic 6 billion in-house hedge fund. Dr Gao received her PhD in Artificial Intelligence of Electrical Engineering from University of California Riverside in 2008 and she is a CFA charter holder.
Cindy Wang, MBA – Co-Chair
Ms. Wang is the Founding Partner of Phaenomena West Capital, investing in late stage and growth technology and product companies. Prior to founding Phaenomena West, she worked as Managing Director at TerraNova Capital Partners and Woodside Capital Partners specialized in M&A transactions; she also worked at ThinkEquity Partners and WR Hambrecht Co. as an investment banker. Previously she worked at Oracle as a software development manager managing an engineering team.
Ms. Wang holds MBA from Haas School of UC Berkeley and M.S in Computer Science, New Mexico State University.
